Data is available on a 2-year lag as part of our academic license. New content is updated in September of each year.
Simmons Catalyst
- Catalyst (formerly the Insights platform) is an advanced consumer insights search platform that generates consumer personas and brand insights by running customized cross-tab queries.
- Students planning on careers in marketing/advertising/brand managment will want to learn to use the Catalyst platform; this is the version you will be using at internships and jobs.

Brand Catalyst
- Brand Catalyst is a predictive segmentation tool that generates consumer personas and brand insights without the need to create cross-tabs.
- While it is easier to use than Simmons Catalyst, you lose the benefits of data and insights gleaned from conducting cross-tab analysis.

The MRI Simmons USA
- The MRI Simmons USA Survey measures consumer lifestyle statements, attitudes and motivations, with a sample of over 50,000 U.S. adults annually
- MRI Simmons USA - Understanding the survey methodology
- NCHS Survey- Prior to the MRI & Simmons merger this was the primary US adult survey; 2020 is the last time it was updated. It was replaced by the MRI Simmons USA survey.
Digital Life
- The Digital Life Survey provides insights into Americans’ use of mobile phones, social networking, instant messaging, blogging, gaming, online video/audio, and other traditional and emerging media channels.
