Visitor Information

Rose Library is located at 540 Asbury Circle, Atlanta, GA, 30322, on Level 10 of the Robert W. Woodruff Library on Emory's main campus in Atlanta. Use the links below for driving directions, parking information, alternative transportation and nearby accomodation and dining options.

    Directions

    If you are driving to Emory from the North or South on I-85:

    1. Take the Clairmont Road exit (#91).
      • Coming from the South: turn right onto Clairmont Road.
      • Coming from the North: turn left onto Clairmont Road.
    2. Follow Clairmont approximately three miles to North Decatur Road.
    3. Turn west (right) and follow North Decatur Road approximately one mile to the Emory campus.
    4. Enter the roundabout and exit at the first turn through the main entrance gates.
    5. After passing through the gates, take an immediate right on Fishburne Drive.
    6. Follow Fishburne to the three-way intersection.

    Proceed straight ahead and turn right into the Fishburne Visitor parking deck, the closest visitor parking to the Woodruff Library.

    If you are driving to Emory from the East or West via I-20:

    1. Take the Moreland Avenue North exit.
    2. Turn north on Moreland Avenue and follow it approximately three miles at which point Moreland becomes Briarcliff Road.
    3. Continue straight on Briarcliff Road approximately two miles to North Decatur Road.
    4. Turn east (right) and follow North Decatur Road through the first roundabout where you will take the second exit into Emory Village.
    5. Follow this to the second roundabout and take the third exit through the main entrance gates.
    6. After passing through the gates, take an immediate right on Fishburne Drive.
    7. Follow Fishburne to the three-way intersection.

    Proceed straight ahead and turn right into the Fishburne Visitor parking deck, the closest visitor parking to the Woodruff Library.

    Public transportation

    Atlanta’s mass transit system is MARTA (Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority). MARTA operates a coordinated system of bus and train lines for access to all of Atlanta. Exact change or tokens are required for the bus. The number 6 MARTA bus runs down Clifton Road, between the Lindbergh Station on the North line and the Inman Park/Reynoldstown Station on the East line. The number 36 MARTA bus travels down North Decatur Road, between the Midtown Station on the North line and the Avondale Station on the East line.

    There is a stop for MARTA bus number 6 near the intersection of North Decatur and Clifton Roads. Exit the bus and proceed to Fishburne Drive. The Library is located at the intersection of Fishburne Drive and Asbury Circle. Take a right on Asbury Circle and the Library will be on the left. Proceed to the entrance at the front of the Library.

    There is a stop for MARTA bus number 36 and bus number 6 near the main entrance to Emory University on North Decatur Road. Exit the bus and proceed through the main entrance on Dowman Drive and take an immediate right on Fishburne Drive. Proceed straight ahead and at the three-way stop, take a left and cross over Mizell Bridge.  Bear to the right and proceed to the entrance at the front of the Library.

    Emory Campus Shuttles

    Emory provides several complimentary shuttle routes to help you get around campus. You do not have to be an Emory student, faculty or staff member to ride the shuttles. All Emory campus shuttles are accessible to persons with mobility impairments.

    The "A" shuttle includes service to the Emory Conference Center Hotel on Clifton Road.

    The "CCTMA" shuttle route includes downtown Decatur, the Holiday Inn Express and the Courtyard Mariott on Clairemont Avenue.

    From Hartsfield Jackson International Airport

    Hartsfield-Jackson Airport is located in the southwest section of the city, approximately twenty-five minutes from the Emory University campus.

    Visitors driving from the airport should use the following directions.

    1. Take I-85 North to Atlanta and take the Clairmont Road exit (#91).
    2. Turn right on Clairmont Road and follow it approximately three miles to North Decatur Road.
    3. Turn west (right) and follow North Decatur Road approximately one mile to the Emory Campus.
    4. Enter the roundabout and exit at the first turn through the main entrance gates.
    5. After passing through the gates, take an immediate right on Fishburne Drive and follow Fishburne to the three-way intersection.
    6. Proceed straight ahead and turn right into the Fishburne Visitor parking deck, the closest visitor parking to the Woodruff Library.

    Convenient train service from the airport to the Emory campus is available at the Airport MARTA Station, located near the baggage claim area of the airport. MARTA trains arrive and depart from the airport every eight minutes. In 15 minutes, a passenger can travel the 10 miles to downtown Atlanta, where connections are available to other parts of the city.

    The Emory campus is accessible by MARTA bus from the following transfer points:

    • Inman Park/Reynoldstown Station (#6 bus)
    • Lindbergh Station (#6 bus)
    • Avondale Station (#36 bus)
    • Midtown Station (#36 bus)

    Visitor Parking

    Visitors to Emory may park in one of three visitor parking decks: Fishburne, Oxford Road, and Peavine. Fishburne is located closest to the Woodruff library building. Emory's Transportation Office offers a service to bring guests with limited mobility from the Fishburne Deck to the Library building. After parking your vehicle, please call 404.727.1131 for assistance.

    Fishburne is the preferred place to park and is located between Glenn Memorial Church and the Schwartz Center.

    From North Decatur Road, proceed around the traffic circle to the main entrance of the University (Dowman Drive) and take an immediate right on Fishburne Drive.

    1. Follow Fishburne Drive to the three way stop.

    Proceed straight ahead and turn right into the Fishburne parking deck, the closest visitor parking to the Woodruff Library.

    The Oxford Road lot is located behind the Oxford Road Building that houses University Admissions, Emory Barnes and Noble, and a Starbucks.

    To access the Oxford Road parking deck, exit the traffic circle onto Oxford Road. The entrance to the parking deck will be just past the Oxford Road Building on your right.

    These are the closest parking decks for non-Emory visitors with mobility issues Mon-Fri until 4pm. After 4pm and on Saturdays, visitors can also park in one of the three accessible parking spaces identified as "additional Emory permit required" in front of the Rich Memorial Building. Such spaces are also available on South Kilgo Circle.

    To get to the library:

    1. Exit the parking deck and turn left.
    2. Take the first right (on Fishburne Drive).
    3. Proceed straight across a bridge toward the triangular entrance that leads into the Carlos Museum.
    4. At the triangular entrance, turn right and follow the sidewalk to the overpass between two buildings.

    The entrance to Woodruff Library is under the right-hand side of the overpass.

    The Peavine surface lot is located next to the Woodruff PE Center, off of Oxford Road.

    1. From North Decatur road, exit the traffic circle onto Oxford Road.
    2. Turn right onto Peavine drive
    3. Go straight through the first stop sign, and the visitor surface lot will be ahead on your left.
    4. Use the gated entrance to the lot adjacent to the attendant’s booth.

    A regularly scheduled shuttle bus service (Route D) stops at this lot and at the Library.

    Dining

    There are many on-campus and near campus options for dining. 

    • Banjo Coffee is located on Level 1 of the Library building. Coffee, snacks, salads and sandwiches. Not open in the Summer.
    • Asbury Court is located next door to the Library in the Emory Hospital. Cafeteria and short-order grill.
    • Cox Hall is home to the Emory Student Union and is two minute walk from the Library. Smoothies, deli, salad bar, stir fry, grill local Indian, pizza and taco vendors. Not open on Saturdays.
    • Emory Village Emory Village is a five minute walk from the Library and has many chain and local restaurants.
